Still dreaming about our adventures in northern Canada last summer and when I saw @amykaypoetry poetry prompt, #InAnotherLife, I had to jump back into how perfect those few weeks were, camping and living off the road in the stunning tundra wilderness. In another life, I would live off the northern land, become a self sufficient forest gremlin, and never return to the land of the cities again…😅☁️ #wishfulthinking

Any fans of the Last of Us here? 🙋🏻‍♀️

This show is soul crushing in the best way. It’s not really a zombie show—it’s a story about human connection and survival, and critically, how connection is essential to our survival. I love how realistic the personalities and relationships in this show are portrayed. Although the youth have been through the horrors and tragedy of the post-apocalyptic world, they are not hardened by it. They still act like children—imaginative, creative, playful. The same goes for how tender, yet nuanced the relationships on this show are portrayed. Bill and Frank’s episode broke my heart, and thus, this poem was born.

On another note, thank you for sticking by this page and still reading. I know I don’t always post regularly, and I know that to successfully grow social media presence, being absent for months at a time isn’t the best way to do that. But I am here at the end of the day to share my art, not to prioritize follower or like counts, not to post like a robot every single day. Whenever social media starts to feel like a chore, I feel like my writing also starts to feel disingenuous and I need to take a break. I never want to sacrifice quality for quantity, or my mental health and well-being for a successful poetry page. Thank you for understanding and for being here during this journey❤️
